Things to do in the area include:
Walk,
jog, rollerblade, and bike on 30 miles of the Centennial Trail that
passes directly outside our door connecting Spokane and Coeur
d'Alene. Discover the pioneer history of North Idaho at the Museum
of North Idaho. Golf, play tennis, and hike the many mountain trails
of North Idaho. See American Bald Eagles flying over Beauty Bay.
Swim and sunbathe at the area's free beaches. Jet-ski, para-sail,
and tour the lake with a bird's-eye view from pontoon planes. Fish
(come to the Salmon Derby and catch a 35 pound King!) or sail your
own boat or a rental (come to the annual regattas!). Scuba, snorkel,
powerboat, river raft, or take a cruise up the old St. Joe River, a
favorite of Mark Twain.
Ride "The Grizzly" roller-coaster at
Silverwood Theme Park
with its nostalgic train rides and a return to family fun with a
1890's atmosphere.
In August, attend the outdoor annual juried "Art on the
Green" competition, show, and sale at North Idaho College and
tour the rustic and accessible Tubb's Hill nature preserve between Coeur
d'Alene Lake and downtown Coeur d'Alene.
Winter brings the "Coeur d'Alene Holiday Festival". A
four-day event featuring the Festival of Lights parade, Santa
cruises, and the Festival of Trees. Ski, snowmobile, and snow board
at 5 area ski resorts ( Lookout Pass, Mt. Spokane, Schweitzer Ski
Basin, Silver Mountain, 49 Degrees North) or ride North America's
longest gondola in Kellogg, Idaho.
